Business Downtime Cost Calculator
Estimate what every hour offline costs in lost revenue, idle payroll, recovery spending and post-outage productivity.
Simple downtime cost

Downtime & revenue
Affected labor
Direct recovery costs
Simple methodDirect impact = permanently lost revenue + idle labor cost + recovery expense + other direct outage costs. Delayed revenue is reported as exposed revenue but is not treated as permanently lost. This Simple view is a cash-impact style estimate, not a profit-only accounting measure.

Post-recovery productivity drag
Direct incident & recovery expenses
Advanced methodEconomic cost uses lost contribution rather than lost revenue, then adds the cost of recovering delayed revenue, idle payroll, recovery-tail labor drag and direct incident expenses. Revenue exposure and permanently lost revenue remain visible separately so cash impact is not confused with profit impact.

Scope
Downtime cost depends on what revenue and labor are truly unrecoverable
This calculator estimates outage economics from the assumptions entered. Some revenue may shift to another period rather than disappear, some employees may continue productive work, and some recovery expenses may already be covered by fixed contracts or insurance. The Advanced economic-cost result uses contribution margin on permanently lost revenue to reduce double counting. It does not automatically include long-term customer churn, regulatory penalties, reputational damage, data-loss liability or business interruption insurance recoveries.
