Payment plans change both customer affordability and the seller’s cash timing.

A longer installment term usually lowers each payment but increases the time the seller waits to collect cash and, when interest is charged, increases total interest paid by the customer.

The Advanced model separates customer interest from the business’s cost of carrying the receivable and expected nonpayment risk. That helps distinguish a payment plan that merely feels affordable from one that also makes economic sense for the seller.

InstallmentThe recurring payment required to amortize the financed balance over the selected term.
Total interestTotal scheduled payments plus balloon, less the amount originally financed.
Payment scheduleA period-by-period breakdown of interest, principal and the remaining balance.
