Employer burden
Simple methodBase hourly pay = annual salary ÷ paid annual hours. Loaded labor cost adds the payroll burden, benefits and employer overhead you enter. Rates are user inputs, so the calculator does not assume any current statutory payroll-tax percentage.

Employer cost
Paid time that is not productive work
Advanced methodProductive annual hours = paid annual hours − PTO − holidays − training/meetings − other nonproductive paid time. Productive-hour cost divides the full loaded employer cost by those productive hours. If nonproductive time consumes all paid hours, the productive-hour result is flagged instead of dividing by zero.

Scope
Hourly labor cost depends on what the employer includes
This calculator uses the salary, payroll burden, benefits and overhead values you enter. It does not assume current tax rates or determine overtime eligibility, exempt status, wage-law compliance or employee classification. Productive-hour cost is an allocation measure, not the employee's legal hourly wage. Use actual payroll and accounting data when making compensation, pricing or staffing decisions.
