The opening budget is only half of the startup funding question.
Many startups budget for equipment, inventory and launch costs but underestimate the cash needed after opening. Revenue may ramp slowly while payroll, rent, insurance, software and marketing begin immediately.
The Advanced model calculates the deepest operating cash deficit during the first 12 months and adds that amount to opening costs, contingency and the selected minimum cash cushion.
Opening costsOne-time expenses required before the business can begin operating.
Working capitalCash needed to cover the early gap between operating costs and gross profit.
Funding gapThe difference between total modeled need and funding already identified.
